Zielsetzung

Unsere Projektziele

Our Project Goals
  1. Presentation of selected dissertations of the chemical research institutes of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg on the Internet.

  2. Beyond the display of textual data for on-line screen browsing and local printing focus on presenation of material enhanced by multi-media attachments, which increase the information content and demonstrate added value.

  3. Indexing of the dissertations not just by traditional catalog entries and full text database, but also by chemistry-specific methodology such as full- and substructure search in order to provide a new quality of accessability, which is so important for the field of chemistry.

  4. Integration of the dissertation data into a context involving data about the research groups and authors in order to facilitate contacts for scientific discussion and collaboration and to give the authors a forum to present themselves while looking for employment.

  5. Improve the status of dissertations by making them a truly publicily accessible document demonstrating scientific achievements.
  6. Gather experiences regarding document conversion and structuring, probe the support of authors and their supervisors for the principle direction of this project.

  7. Transfer of the results into long-term project such as the DFG-funded project Dissertationen Online, collaboration with libraries with regard to the problems of long-term archival.
